21th Century Sightings

Yeti FootprintIn December 2007, television's Sci-Fi channel producer Joshua Gates reported that his team uncovered footprints in the Himalayas of Napal.  Each footprint was 13 inches (33 cm) in length and included five toes.  The width of the footprints was 9.8 in (25 cm).   Gates' team cast the footprintes and gave them Idaho State Associate Anthropology professor Dr. Jeffrey Meldrum for analysis.  Meldrum found the footprints to be too accurate to be man-made, and that they do not belong to any currently know bipedal primate.  On April 28, 2008, Gates donated one of the Yeti footprint casts to Walt Disney World.  The cast will be put on display at Disney's Expedition Everest, which is a Himalayan themed attraction.

On September 21, 2008 a team of Japanese adventurers, led by veteran Yeti hunter Yoshiteru Takahashi, photographed footprints they believed to be made by a Yeti.  Takahashi claims that he saw a Yeti during an expedition on September 27, 2003.    Takahashi's team failed to capture the Yeti on film on this trip, nbut he reamins determined to capture the Yeti on film during future expeditions.
